Led an interactive research workshop today with the NSS Club at National Institute of Science and Technology (NIST), where Prashanna Tiwari introduced ADHAYAN and walked students through the core methodology of hands-on scientific research. The session focused on demystifying the academic research pipeline, guiding students through the process of formulating clear research questions, conducting literature reviews using tools like arXiv and Google Scholar, and structuring systematic experiments.
To help students turn passion into practical work, the workshop covered actionable strategies for topic selection and problem scoping. Prashanna demonstrated how broad technical interests—such as edge AI, embedded robotics, and localized computer vision—can be systematically narrowed down into well-defined, tractable problem statements suitable for high school research.
The discussion also highlighted the tangible academic and professional benefits of early-stage research. Students explored real-world outcomes including publishing in peer-reviewed student journals like JEI, releasing preprints on open-access repositories (Zenodo/arXiv), showcasing physical prototypes at hardware hackathons, and presenting findings in technical workshops.
ADHAYAN serves as an international collaborative framework designed to empower high schoolers to build, experiment, and publish together. It was inspiring to see the energy from the NIST students as they prepare to take their first steps toward becoming the next generation of researchers and innovators.
